Providing children a warm, secure and welcoming learning environment.

Florence Road Pre-School acknowledges the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, live and play. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Florence Road Pre School recognise the importance of our role in developing positive foundations for learning.  Our programs and practices are underpinned by current pedagogical research and we engage in ongoing reflection to ensure each child is encouraged to reach their full potential.  We believe that through play-based learning children develop their sense of identity, belonging and resilience.  Our educators work with children to understand their interests and capabilities, making learning meaningful and fun.

Our Pre School is committed to engaging children in learning which inspires creativity, self-expression and imagination. We believe that children develop self-confidence and positive relationships with others by joining in the shared experience of creating; through design and construction, visual arts, music and movement.  We believe that through encouraging children to explore creative expression, children develop skills to share their thoughts and emotions.

We believe that children nurture a sense of care for living things and the world around them through engaging in nature play.  We work alongside children and families to develop awareness of sustainability concepts and our impact on the environment.   Connecting to the natural world develops respect for the environment and allows children to learn to assess risks, use their sensory capabilities and fosters a sense of wonder for the world they are part of e.g. Bush Kinder.

Our Pre School is a community of people of different cultures, beliefs and abilities.  We respect the skills, knowledge and experience of all members of our community.  Through developing positive relationships with families, we strengthen our ability to create learning environments which reflect the individual learning needs of our community.  Our educators work in partnership with families, each other and the local community to achieve high quality education.  We engage with the community to share our professional knowledge and positively engage with issues which affect young children or our profession.
