Parent Involvement & Communication

Parents have an important part to play and our Pre-School relies on parent involvement.

Parent helpers

Parents are such an integral part of our kinder community. Your interest, knowledge and understanding of what your child is doing forms an important part of their social and emotional development. Have you considered coming in one day to be a ‘parent helper’?

We rely on parent helpers for some excursions and activities, but moreover children love having their parent come to kinder with them and witness all the wonderful things that they do there. It also provides a valuable insight for you to see what your child is learning and participating in at kinder. We encourage you all to sign up to be a parent helper this year and we’re sure you will enjoy and benefit from doing so.

Show and share – special skills

We would love to have you come and share a skill you may have with the children.  In the past we have had family members who are nurses and vets come in and talk to the children about their job, Nona’s come and make pasta with the children, Mum’s come and teach the children songs and read books in Chinese and Dad’s come in their beekeeping suit to show the children how honey is made.   If you think you’d like to come in and share your knowledge, skill, hobby, or a traditional custom / celebration relevant to your family with us please let us know.  We would love to have you.

Class Representatives

Each class has a dedicated parent Class Representative to act as the liason between parents, teachers and the Committee. Class Representatives organise quarterly social activities for families. This may be a play date at a local park, coffee mornings or a dinner for parents. Supporting our kinder families and keeping them connected is critical to the success of our Kinder.

Seesaw App

Florence Road Preschool uses the Seesaw Online Learning Journal for Educators to record and share what’s happening at Kinder – in the class, in the yard or in the bush. It gives parents an insight into your child’s Kinder day and helps to documents learning outcomes with photos and videos.

Parents are only notified about their own child’s work, and all data is safe and secure.
